We are Jackson, Dylan, Dante and Nasir from OSCEOLA SCIENCE CHARTER SCHOOL. Dante and Nasir has been best buddies since 1st Grade! Dylan and Jackson too. We’re part of the SECME club and have been super excited about our SOLAR CAR competition. We picked a SONIC car because, well he’s the fastest thing we ever seen! Plus we watched the sonic movie 1, 2, and 3, and let’s be honest – who wouldn’t want a car inspired by the coolest, speediest hedgehog in the world?

We started drawing a model and weight all material that we had to see which is lighter.
Then Nasir and Dante put hands on the website page and Dylan and Jackson started to build the body of the car.
The chassis is a recycled cake board that we found in the kitchen that was perfect because it had some holes that we used to put the axles. We choose a foam for the body because it’s lighter and we can insert all pieces that we needed. We insert the phone holder to hold the solar panel , the battery holder in case it’s cloudy day and the hole for a ping pong ball.
After that we paint like SONIC and was the funniest part to see how it looks like.

The most excited part of our project was the Test Drive Day! We were at SECME club at school and went outside to see how Fast the car can run. It was amazing!
We had so much fun making our Super Fast Sonic Solar Car. Along the way, we learned that the sun can be powerful- it can move cars! Plus, by using recycled materials, we helped the planet while getting creative.
Now, it’s race time! We can’t wait to see our Sonic Car crossing the finish line. Let’s go super fast !!!

I LOVE your solar power car. I did it a couple years ago and I wasn’t as creative as you guys. I love how you turned the car into sonic. That must have taken a lot of hard work and time. Did you name it sonic because it’s going to be as fast as the character or just because you guys love sonic all together.
