First Prototype
Second Prototype
We had a few problems with the first design like the axle holes were in the wrong place, there was a piece on the top for the solar panel but that means that we couldn’t screw in the screws easily. So we removed the bottom and moved the holes for the axles. – Alex
Third Prototype
Original by Joseph
Design was for a sleek speedy look and aerodynamics. The car improvements and reprints were for less weight and more aerodynamics

The starter design was for a sleek speedy look and aerodynamics, later on different prototypes, we reprinted the car to improve the car’s weight and aerodynamics.

I thought it would be a good idea to use more torque than speed. However our original gears were too thin and we chose the thicker gears instead. The axles were cut to make them smaller (to fit the car) and the wheels are a heavy acrylic to weigh the car down

We thought it would be a good idea to use more torque than speed. However, our original gears were too small, so we decided to use bigger gears instead. We made sure the axles were cut enough to fit the car neatly, and we chose heavy wheels to weigh the car down, keeping steady friction.

Once we came up with a design we liked we printed it. This is our first plan and will be tested soon.
Edited by Victor
After we had the idea of a weightless and aerodynamic car, we started creating and designing in a tinkercad, finally we found a model we all liked and started printing, prototype 1 was beginning to form.
Original by Alex
we realized that we will go fast but only if the sun is coming from a certain direction so we will make it so we can make it faster and get the most energy from all directions.
Edited by Victor
We soon realized that the way the sun’s trajectory landed on the car affected the cars actual speed, so we tried to make a new design for the car, trying to gain as much sunlight as possible. This will be known as our second prototype.
Victor sends it
The second prototype was then made to see if how we clean up the car affects the speed, in our first proyote, we cleaned it up sloppy and it was very rigged.
Final Car Build
First Run – the gears didn’t mesh!

Nice design for the car, did you end up getting the gears to mesh better?

I like the design!
