All students are in the 4th Grade.

Green Building and Design

Our bunny enclosure is made out of recycled material. We used old pallets that were taken apart, the wood was sanded and repurposed. We used pieces of our dog house from last years 2024 energy whiz project. The screening is repurposed from replaced patio screening.

Gardening for the Future

The Star Bunny enclosure has a tower planter garden. Vertical planting offers numerous benefits, including space optimization, improved air quality, enhanced aesthetics, and potentially better plant health and pest resistance.

Plants in our garden: Basil, Kale, cilantro, lettuce, swiss chard, dill, green beans, and parsley.

All plants are safe for the bunny to eat!

Renewable Energy

Our Bunny enclosure has solar powered lights. Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, which is then stored in a rechargeable battery to power LED lights at night.

Thank you!

Thank you Ms. Lucas for collecting supplies, helping us to learn how to use Power Tools safely and supervising us building our Bunny Hut.

We used the Internet for research!

Critter Test!

We were not able to test our Star Bunny home with a rabbit, no one involved or in our class has a rabbit. However our bunny enclosure is designed to be outside under protection, like a patio. The bunny hut did really well when we tested it outside under the schools sidewalk cover. Just make sure the plants receive the correct amount of sun.

  • I love that you included a rooftop porch for the bunny. The futuristic garden is a great innovative idea to provide better air quality, and as a food source for you bunny. I look forward to seeing your work in Cocoa 🙂

  • Oh my, I think the bunny or bunnies would love this habitat to live in. Looks like you had a great team and worked very well together. Great job in using recycled materials, was the vertical planter also recycled?
