Our team name is The Falcon Chefs. The name of our school is Viera Elementary school. Our team members names are, Brynn R. , Ariana L. , Peighton T. , and Deekshaa P. The grade level of each team member is 6th grade. *put picture of solar oven when finished** One of our team members Brynn, has competed before in the Solar Energy Cook-Off. One of our team members has previously competed in a solar cook-off. An interesting fact about our team is that we all have competed in Energy Whiz before! The only help we received from someone who isn’t in our group is our teacher. She helped us cut out items we weren’t allowed to cut and she helped us hot glue items because the students at our school aren’t allowed to use hot glue. The length x width of our cooker is 18 by 18 inches. The height is 30 inches. We chose this design for our cooker because its the most effective and it gathers the most sunlight.

In order from left to right: Deekshaa P, Ariana L, Brynn R, Peighton T

The pictures are blurry, so they say:

The Bottom Box: 18″x18″x18″, with a door that is 12″x12″.

The Top Funnel: One side of the trapezoid is 35″ and the opposite side is 18″ and it is 24″ tall

And combine the 2 pieces together (top & bottom)

Recipes:

Mini Caprese Bites– Cherry Tomatoes, Mozzarella Cheese, Basil, Balsamic Vinegar, baguette

Cut the baguette in 1/2″ slices. Cut cherry tomatoes into half. Grab basil leaf and put it on the bottom then stack the cherry tomato on top. Then add mozzarella on top. After you have assembled it, place in the oven for around 15 min. After, drizzle the balsamic vinegar on top.

Pita Pizza– Tomato sauce, Mozzarella Cheese, Parmesan Cheese, Basil, Pitas, Cheddar Cheese

Spread a layer of tomato sauce from center out, leaving 1 cm of room for crust. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, and cheddar cheese on top. Place in the oven for 20-25 min. Once done cooking, add basil before serving.

Caramel smores– Graham Crackers, Caramel Syrup, Peanut Butter Cups, Marshmallows

Place a marshmallow on top a graham cracker. Place a peanut butter cup on top of the marshmallow. Put another graham cracker on top of the whole stack and put the whole thing into the oven until the marshmallow and peanut butter cup melts. Then, take the smore out and drizzle caramel syrup on top of the the marshmallow and peanut butter cup.

  • Loved your cinematography in your video. Great oven design and love the door at the bottom to keep in the heat. Looking forward to seeing your oven on the 26th.

  • Interesting design and fun theme used. From the photos, it was good to see that you tested your recipes in the cooker.
